Hugh Casson - Riviera Milk Jug c.1954
The pattern comprises a number of scenes inspired by a trip to the South of France. Originally issued on the Stylecraft shape as Riviera, the same pattern was used on the Fashion Shape in 1960, when it was renamed Cannes.
Hugh Casson was Chief Architect for the 1951 Festival of Britain, held exactly 100 years after the Great Exhibition in the Crystal Palace. He later became Sir Hugh Casson.
